ATTENTION THRILL SEEKERS! NEW DATES FOR SCAD JUMP AND FILM WEEKEND!!! 18th, 19th & 20th April 2008
Film and Activity Festival
 | Whether you’ve never climbed before, or you’re a seasoned expert, our Film & Activity Festival is the perfect weekend break for you. Kicking off Friday 18th April, three action packed days with two aims in mind... The first is the screening of a number of different award-winning adventure sport documentaries spread out over the weekend and hosted in our fantastic Brecon Suite. | Fully decked out with a traditional cinema feel, as well as hot buttery popcorn for every member of the audience at no extra cost! Were also putting on some movies especially for the kids to keep them entertained.
The second aim of the weekend is to get everyone stuck into their favourite adventure activities! For seasoned climbers, our fantastic walls and bouldering areas will be available all day for you to challenge yourself at your own pace.
For those wanting to try something new, the ticket includes taster sessions running all weekend; choose from climbing on our breathtaking indoor walls, kayaking on our purpose-built lakes, mountain-biking on the spectacular local trails, or caving in our unique man-made caving system. Or try them all!
That’s the great thing about the festival…the films and activity sessions will be running and repeated throughout the weekend, so rest assured you’ll leave us happy you’ve tried everything!
Feature Presentation…Dave MacLeod’s ‘Committed’ The multi award winning Hot Aches team present - A year at the cutting edge of hardcore trad climbing. Featuring Dave McLeod and Britain's best rock climbers, plus top overseas visitors, Committed packs in over 200 'E' points of action: The hardest and most dangerous ascents that have been grabbing the climbing headlines.
Stone Country said... "Another palm-wringing adventure through extreme British trad climbing and hopefully the start of a fine documentary tradition of DVD's from the Hotaches crew. The production was excellent, the routes jaw-dropping and some of the fall footage is becoming legendary... these should come with an X-rated warning that you will spoil yourself, especially the footage of Meshuga!
From the sea cliffs of Scotland, to the gritstone test pieces of England, to the mountains in Ireland and Wales...one theme is consistent: Committed. | Sponsored SCAD for charity @ E2 | The unique new sport of SCAD skydiving is coming to E2 on Saturday 19th April!!! SCAD (Suspended Catch Air Device diving) is a unique new thrill ride. It is the only system in the world allowing unattached, controlled free fall. The rider reaches release level 150 feet up using a large crane. Then, the rider free falls completely unattached, into the suspended catch air device. | The airtubes and brake suspensions around the double SCAD net stop the fall so softly that the rider feels no impact at all. SCAD is a safe thrill experience that requires no prior experience whatsoever…anyone can do it!
So How Does it Work ? 1. Getting Ready The riders receive their quick-fit CFF free fall harness. 2. On the way up Customers and visitors travel with the 8 Passenger elevator cabin to the top of the tower. 3. At the top Visitors that wish to experience more than the panoramic view, connect to the SCAD release system and sit down in the special CFF (controlled free fall) harness. 4. The release Once the release has been pulled the rider feels the enormous force of real gravity out of the totally still position. The CFF harness guarantees the correct body position at all times. 5. The freefall The rider accelerates up to 70 mph in a completely unattached free fall over 100 ft which creates an extraordinary rush, just like a parachute jump. 6. The landing net The landing into a huge airtube supported double net feels like dropping into a giant cushion and the rider does not feel any impact. The maximum G-Force is only 4 G. 7. The last drop After the landing in the net, the SCAD mechanism gently lowers to the ground for the rider to exit. 8. Back to earth The riders adrenalin rush turns into an overwhelming feeling of achievement following their incredible experience.
